Some of the steps up to the B&B, you can see more inside if you look hard
This is the path to the B&B, just as well the view was worth it!
Kev's favourite bar in Monterosso, they looked after him very well.
View from the balcony at our hotel in Rome
Kev finally got his feet in the water in Monterosso, and then tried to chat up a girl who asked him to take her photo!
400 steps down to the station at Riomaggorio. I am sure we will get over this obsession with steps.
This is what you get when you ask a stranger to take a photo and don't show them how to use the zoom!!
Breakfast on the terrace at the B&B. There was another couple there from Colorado. They had just arrived so we had lots of advice for them:)
Then off to the station. There was a real person to buy a ticket from, I remembered to validate it (put it in the machine) costs 50 euro fine if you forget and get caught, and no scrum to get on. We got a seat each, bonus.
Then the train to Rome was easy, on time, no scrum plenty of room for La Horse and friends and no changes of train or other nasty surprises.
When we arrivved in Rpme the hotel was 5 min walk away and bonus, they have upgraded out room to superior with a balcony (bigger than some of the romms we have stayed in) and it is really lovely. We even had some money to tip the porter. We are very bad at that.
So all we need now is some warm weather. Have had jeans and two merinos on tonight. Found a really good cheap restaurant. I ordered pork steak and brocolli. Glad I ordered potatoes as the brocolli turned out to be lemon! The potatoes were delicious with lots of olive oil and the salad also was swimming. The place was full at 7pm, always a good sign and we were seated close to an Italian man who we shamelessly eavesdroppped on when he ordered and discovered he spoke a bit of English. So i chatted with him and he said he doesn't eat the meat as it is full of hormones and the stock are kept in little pens, and he doesn't eat the fish as it is poisoned with mercury. He was very nice but ignorance is bliss and I have really enjoyed the meat and fresh fish here.
I am trying not to put on weight and is fine when we are walking. But 4 hours on a train today makes it hard. I think I have put on a kilo or two. Need to fit into my uniform or I won't be able to go to work :)
Off to see the sights tomorrow, Vatican tour on Wed and maybe a night tour on Thursday. We haven't really been out in the evening. Too tired and a bit nervous so maybe should see Rome in the evening.
Not many photos today as the trip was mostly flat land and nothing very exciting. Did see some cows and sheep but they were gone before we could capture them.
Will load some photos from yesterday and should have some more tomorrow.
How can you possibly be putting on weight with all that walking and STEPS! Loving the piccies. Love to Kevin.
