I had no idea the forum would be like this!
So well preserved
So huge
Colosseum!
Inside view
Underneath the floor where the animals and some humans waited for their turn to be devoured!
It's funny, I know all is fine at home as Karen and I have a deal about telling me if things go wrong, but to see and hear first hand is just another level of comfort. All the dogs got a turn and they all look so relaxed and loved and happy. They don't really respond to us on skype although Razz heard my voice and Naki was the most interested. She is the one who watches videos on TV so not surprised.
We have been to the Roman Forum and Colosseum. I have had a haircut!! and we have done the laundry and ordered the taxi for tomorrow. 45 euros but better than trying to get La horse and friends onto a train. Tonight we will repack bags to distribute the weight.
We walked to the forum from the hotel. Was much cooler today, thank goodness. Forum was incredible. We only covered some of it as there is so much and I wanted to get a really good look at the detail. Then the colosseum which is incredible. I didn't know they could flood the bottom and do shows with water and ships and and and!!
Haircut was interesting. Cost 45 euros (that seems to be the amount of the day). They don't section the hair when they cut it. Just grab a hunk and start snipping. So he (yes he) went round it all once then decided to take a bit more off. I had indicated how much with my fingers but.... Then he got the razor out, haven't seen a razor cut for years, and had a bit of a go with that. It looks okay and is not hanging in my eyes any more. Apologies to the guys for the detail but the girls know how I feel.
Kev has a cold. Buga. I have cracked heels, never had that problem before, and a very sore neck. Hopefully a few days comparitive rest will sort us both out.
Off to Turkey tomorrow. That is very exciting. We will be met at the airport (hopefully) and spend two nights in Istanbul then off to Ankara.
Sounds like there are some nerves around the AB's game at the w eekend. Not sure if we will get to see it.
Hopefully will be able to update the blog in Turkey.
Cheers
ps while I was loading the photos kev climbed over the balcony, 6 floors up, to see what the policeman was blowing his whistle about!!
