Yesterday we started with a visit to the white calcium cascades at Pamukkale. This is so beautiful. The Turkish equivalent of Rotorua with natuarl hot water but so much more. We didn't have the opportunity to swim but I did manage to get told off for putting my feet in the wrong pool.
Then on our way here we stopped at a leather factory. They gave us a great fashion show of their leather jackets. Afterwards we had the opportunity to buy (as you do). Having resisted the ceramic plates and hand knotted carpets I fell in love with the jackets and bought the most expensive garment ever. It is so soft, gorgeous teal green on one side and black on the other. Reversible. I will put a photo on the blog. May not show the colour well.
So, back to the holiday:) Kusadasi is beautiful. Set on the Aegean sea it is a favourite stop for cruise boats. This morning we went to St Mary's cottage and then to Ephesus. We spent 2 hours there and it was just amazing. The site is huge and there is so much which is still in great condition. At the theatre which seats 25000 people a man (tourist) started to sing. He had a beautiful voice and was a very accomplished performer. We felt privileged to be there to hear him.
This afternoon was free and we did some washing, I bought a much needed book, and we are currently sitting on the balcony of the hotel having a drink thinking about how soon we will be home. Funny feeling thinking about being home. I have counted off every day and a big part of me cannot wait to be home. But we will be very sad to finish this chapter of our lives. Thank goodness for memories, photos and the blog. And good friends to listen to us going on and on.
Finally the weather has improved and was beautiful today. 23 deg and Kev got his shorts out this arvo. 6 australians have
joined the tour yesterday and added another dimension of laughs.
Good luck to those who are at NDTA (dog show).
I am thinking of you.
Tomorrow we set off at 7am heading for Canakkale. On the way we will visit Pergamum and Troy.
I guess rugby fever is running high. We will be at Gallipoli when the AB's play which is fitting I guess.
